SH2-115/116

The shot depicts an emission nebula visible in the Swan constellation about 7500 light years away.

It is located in the northern part of the constellation, about 2.5° to the northwest of the bright star Deneb; the most ideal period for its observation in the evening sky falls between July and December.

This is a region H II of a significant extension by an oval shape and crossed northwest-southeast by a dark band that apparently divides it into two equal parts: the eastern part is dominated by the presence of a small open cluster, known as Berkeley 90, resulting in physically associated.

In the framed field you can also see the small nebula always emitting SH2-116.

This nebula has a circular shape, to the point that in the Sharpless catalogue it is indicated as a possible planetary nebula. However, a 1991 study clarified that this is actually an H II region.
