The Helix Nebula
Image Description and Details : NGC 7293 or more commonly known as the Helix Nebula or Eye of God or Eye of Sauron is a planetary nebula formed by the expanding shell of glowing gas around a dying low-mass star. It is located in the constellation Aquarius and is about 650 light years away with a diameter of about 2.5 light-years. 37 x 20min SHO subs shot @-10C taken over 4 nights for an integration time of about 12.5 hours. NGC 6729 Corona Australis in HaLRGB
Image Description and Details : NGC 6729 is a reflection/emission nebula (star-forming region) located some 424 light-years away in the constellation of Corona Australis (The Southern Crown). It is part of one of the closest stellar nurseries to Earth. The Corona Australis Molecular Cloud is a dusty dark molecular cloud just north of one of its two brighter stars Beta Coronae Australis. Within it are stars at the earliest stages of their lifespan. 7 x 10min Ha and 85 x 5min RGB subs @-10C were taken over 5 nights for a total integration time of about 8.3 hrs. NGC 3199 The Banana Nebula
Image Description and Details : NGC 3199 or more commonly known as the Banana Nebula is a crescent-shaped cocoon of dust and gas approximately 12,000 light-years away in the southern constellation of Carina. The banana/crescent shaped nebula is a 'bow shock' associated with a Wolf-Rayet star (HD 89358)
79 x 600s subs shot @-10C taken over 3 nights using 3nm narrowband filters for an integration time of 13.2 hours.

Vela Supernova Remnant Neighbourhood
Image Description and Details :
This is a project that started at the end of January. The original plan was to shoot an 8-panel mosaic around the area of RCW32 (Gum15) and its proximity to the Vela Supernova Remnant. It has since grown to a 26-panel mosaic covering a wider area. The final image is 14998 x 9999 pixels in width and height and includes DSO's like RCW33, RCW27, the double star HIP42884, PK 263+00.1, the Pencil Nebula, RCW38, NGC2626, some open star clusters including NGC2670, NGC2660 and NGC2671 and of course the Vela Supernova Remnant all in the southern constellation of Vela
This has been a long but satisfying project even though I could not use my camera of choice and had to use my backup camera.
826 x 600s subs were shot @-10C spread across 32 nights for a total integration time of almost 138 hrs. PixInsight tone-mapping and colour-masking applied. PTGui used for stitching with LDR blending turned on.
