C 5068 : The Forsaken Nebula

Image Description and Details :

IC 5068 : The Forsaken Nebula (2 panels mosaic) This is IC 5068, a low emission nebula (composed of clouds of hydrogen gas), neglected because it is located near the very photogenic North America and Pelican nebulae. The nebula is best known for the streaks of dark clouds that separate the hydrogen-colored regions, which also separate the nebula from its better-known neighbors. (All are located 1,600 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus.) NGC 6946: The Fireworks Galaxy and its open cluster

Image Description and Details : Rare are the spiral galaxies that we see exactly from the front. The spiral galaxy NGC6946 located in the constellation Cepheus is about 10 million light-years away.
She hides behind the curtain of stars formed by the Milky Way which crosses the constellation of Cepheus. Its orange central bulb is made up of old stars while the blue
young star clusters dominate in the spiral arms. Red reveals the presence of areas where stars are born.
The activity is so inetnse that one calls this galaxy, the galaxy of the fireworks.

When the light from this galaxy began its journey to strike my photographic in May 2022, the human line appeared (Sahelanthropus tchadensis) on Earth.

The galaxy is accompanied by an open cluster NGC6939 located in the lower right. Much closer to us than the galaxy (4000 light years), its age has been revealed between 1.0 and 1.3 billion years!

SH2-174 : Valentine Rose Nebula

Image Description and Details : While waiting for the galaxy season to pass, I tried my hand at growing roses with this nebula.
I took the opportunity to exceed my exposure time record with more than 100 hours on this target. There are about 70h of HaOIII dualband filter and 30h of RGB.

The image processing was really difficult. I would like to have more details in Ha but I'll settle for this version which I like all the same.

Sh2-174 is an unusual ancient planetary nebula. A planetary nebula is created when a low-mass star blows off its outer layers at the end of its life. The core of the star remains and is called a white dwarf. Usually the white dwarf can be found very near the center of the planetary nebula. But in the case of Sh2-174 it off to the left. (It is the blue star near the center of the blue gas). This asymmetry is due to the planetary nebula's interaction with the interstellar medium that surrounds it.

The Rotten Fish Nebula (LDN1251)

Image Description and Details : LDN 1251 is a complex nebula in the constellation Cepheus, containing reflective dust and gas. Its nickname is the Rotten Fish Nebula. The acronym "LDN" refers to Lynd's Catalog of Dark Nebulae.

LDN 1251 is quite close to us, about 1,000 light years away.
When the light (emitted or reflected) of this nebula "left" to hit my photographic sensor, Robert II "the Pious" was king of France. William the Conqueror had just built the Tower of London and the Vikings arrived on Canadian soil.

A cosmic lizard (Sh2-126)

Image Description and Details : Sharpless 126 (Sh2-126) is the designation of a large emission nebula in Lacerta, which appears in this image as a red background and exceeds the edges of the image. The source of its ionization is the intense ultraviolet radiation from the star 10 Lacertae, a blue main sequence star.

The nebula, which forms a "stellar funnel" in the center of the image and snakes away to the right, is designated LBN 437. It is a molecular cloud whose densest part is associated with some bright young stars. Its most striking feature is a symmetrical reflection nebula associated with the Herbig Ae / Be star V375 Lacertae. This star is also responsible for the bipolar Herbig-Haro objects within the nebula. Herbig-Haro objects are small nebulae around young stars. They form when gas ejected by the star hits dust clouds.
