WR 134

Image Title: WR 134

Date image was taken: August 09, 2023

Image Description and Details : WR 134 was one of the original three Wolf-Rayet stars discovered back in 1887 but though it's a popular astrophotography target it's much less famous than it's cousin the Crescent Nebula.

While the shell of gas for the Crescent appears much fuller, WR 134's shell is mostly very faint. So faint that in most images we only see the brighter OIII arc. But there is really a lot more there but it is quite faint.

The challenge for this image was to bring up those faint details in the oxygen shell while keeping the cruft and detritus of the noise floor of the sensor out. The Xterminator tools along with Generalized Hyperbolic Stretch made all the difference here.
