Image Description and Details : COCOON NEBULA (IC5146) AND RIVER DUST

HaLRGB Image, captured and processed by Francisco Serrano, José García e Ignacio Blanco

Like a comet, in the Cocoon Nebula, located in the constellation Cygnus, we find a region of star formation, generating a bright nebula in emission and reflection, which can be seen on the left side below the image. From it, a long tail of interstellar dust clouds extends, thus reminiscent of the shape of most comets. Behind these long tail filaments are stars in the process of formation, which are visible at infrared wavelengths.
