Sinus Imbrium to Plato
Sinus Iridum (“Bay of Rainbows”) to crater Plato on the northwestern rim of Mare Imbrium. Out in the lava sea, Montes Recti (“Straight Range”) points toward Montes Teneriffe just below Plato (“Tenerife Mountains”, as in the Canary Islands. These isolated mountains form part of an inner impact uplift rim of Imbrium, gouged by an asteroid estimated at 236 km across.
